Noble gas tracers in gas streams at Norwegian CO2 capture plants

چکیده
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) may play a significant role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Noble gases are potential tracers to monitor subsurface CO2 sites verify their containment. Naturally occurring noble have been used successfully refute alleged leakage the past. A Physical Absorption Process for the Capture of Co2 from Co2-rich Natural Gas Streams
A new CO2/CH4 gas separation process is presented in this paper. Capture of CO2 from natural gas is carried out using an n-alkane solvent in a conventional physical absorption process. A methodology to find optimal process condition and solvent has been developed using an advanced equation of state (SAFT-VR), process modelling-optimisation software (gPROMS), and detailed process cost estimation...
متن کاملCO2 Capture from Natural Gas Combined Cycles
CO2 capture from fossil fuel power plants is increasingly proposed for greenhouse gases emission mitigation. It can be applied to coal power stations (with boiler and steam cycle or with gasification) or to natural gas combined cycles (NGCC). The first case is probably the most important in a mid-term perspective, due to: (i) the larger amount of avoided carbon per unit of electricity produced,...
متن کاملFlue gas treatment for CO2 capture
This report is in two sections: the first describes the flue gas and its treatment in post-combustion capture and the second covers the flue gas in oxyfuel combustion capture. The main components of the flue gas in pulverised coal combustion for postcombustion capture are CO2, N2, O2 and H2O, and air pollutants such as SOx, NOx, particulates, HCl, HF, mercury as well as other contaminants. The ...

متن کاملSolvent Formulation for CO2 Separation from Flue Gas Streams
CO2 separation using reactive solvents is considered to be a technically viable option for capturing of CO2 from flue gas streams. However, the cost of CO2 capture using conventional solvents such as aqueous solutions of monoethanolamine (MEA) is prohibitively high. Nearly half of the total cost is due to operational costs, of which about 70 to 80% can be contributed to the cost of regeneration...
